What is the ECMC?
Celebration of urban cycling
– up to 300 cycle messengers: professional cyclists from diverse backgrounds across Europe
Strong community feeling: housing, eating,
competing & partying together on 4 days in Salzburg
Races & events all over the city: main race, scavenger hunt, sprint, goldsprint, hill sprint, lake jump, foot down, trackstand, skid and more …
Sharing experiences, networking, passing on knowledge through the messenger community to and for like-minded people
Cycle messengers make an important contribution to CO2-free logistics in everyday life. They cover thousands of kilometers in all weather conditions and thus contribute to the infrastructure in the most sustainable way.

This is why the European Cycle Messenger Championship brings together cycle messengers from all over Europe every year since 1996. The best in the industry will be honoured in a series of competitions held over four days. In addition, the ECMC is also a meeting place for the messenger community, putting urban bike culture centre stage.
The ECMC takes place alongside national and other international competitions.
Like the Austrian Cycle Messenger Championship (OeRBM), which Velo Bund (aka. Salzburger Fahrradkulturverein), voluntarily organized and hosted in Salzburg in 2023.

The previous European Championships happened 2024 in Lausanne and 2023 in Budapest.
Or the Cycle Messenger World Championships (CMWCs), which are also held annually.

All these are aimed at a young and urban audience and the event is staged in a prominent way.
The ECMC 2025 in Salzburg is the 29th edition of this event, supported by Velo Bund, and has already been held twice in Austria (Graz, 1998 and Vienna, 2017).

Sponsoring, participating or volunteering at the ECMC is an opportunity to connect with international cyclists, increase visibility within the urban cycling community and demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and active living.
